Chocolate Espresso Martini Recipe: A Choco-Caffeinated Delight
Today I will share with you a wonderful espresso martini, but there is a twist here. It is not a normal espresso martini. It is a chocolate espresso martini recipe. Those who are obsessed with chocolate, they will definitely try this at least once in their life.

Ahh just imagine this, chocolate with vodka with a freshly brewed cold espresso shot is quite exotic, right? It is a dessert drink, bittersweet, with its rich creamy texture is enough to light up your mood on any occasion.
What Is a Chocolate Espresso Martini?
It’s just a robust fusion of vodka, chocolate liqueur, and espresso. We can also call it Mocha Espresso Martini, which is just a new version of our well-known classic Espresso Martini.
But the usage of the chocolate liqueur with sprinkles of dark chocolate on top of the velvety foam of this drink makes it more mouthwatering. The sweet bitter strong espresso scent with chocolate makes this drink taste more intense and rich.
It’s also a blend of chocolatey and caffeinated flavor with alcohol which will definitely wake you up.
Ingredients
Vodka:
In this recipe we use vodka as an alcohol. However, you can also use Gin for this cocktail but in that case the drink will taste like Gin more than the other components.
So if we use vodka we can feel the taste of other ingredients more because as we know vodka imparts less flavor. Also, we can use any kind of vodka like vanilla vodka, Grey Goose, American vodka, corn vodka, potato vodka, Ketel one vodka, Smirnoff, Rasputin vodka, Ray vodka, Chocolate vodka etc.
In this recipe I am going to use chocolate vodka. And one more thing: if you want your vodka to taste like vanilla or chocolate flavor you can use vanilla essence or chocolate essence.

Espresso:
A freshly brewed espresso is the best for this recipe. It will taste better. You can make espresso shots with an espresso machine but if you don’t have one you can make it at home in several ways. Just look at our article about how to make espresso without machine.
When you make the espresso shots then put it in the fridge for 20-30 minutes to get a nice chilled espresso. We need cool espresso for this recipe.

Chocolate Liqueur Or Creme De Cocoa:
This is the ingredient we use to make our drink more smoother, silkier, and thicker. However If you don’t find this in the market you can make this at home for this cocktail recipe.
Just add full or half cream with some shaved dark chocolate. Then mix the shaved dark chocolate and cream together and then pour it into a cocktail glass.
Coffee Liqueur:
One of the most important ingredients is coffee liqueur. This adds more flavor with a bit of sweetness. You can also experiment with these ingredients as you taste. However, Mr. Black is my favourite brand. Also, like Spanish coffee recipe you can use Kahlua in this recipe too. Or, if you want, you can choose any brand of coffee liqueur.
Ice Cubes:
As we know Martini is meant to be served as a cold cocktail,Is that possible without ice? Of course not. So besides chilled espresso, we will also need some ice cubes. You can also crush some ice if you want to.
How To Make Chocolate Espresso Martini Recipe

Step 1 – Measure The Ingredients
In the recipe we use the following amounts of ingredients-
30 mL of freshly brewed chilled espresso
60 mL of chocolate vodka
15 mL of coffee liqueur
15 mL of chocolate liqueur
10-15 ice cubes
Step 2 – Process of Mixing
First of all, put all of the ingredients one by one except the espresso in a cocktail shaker and now shake it for 7-10 seconds.
However, if your espresso is not cold enough then at least bring it to room temperature. Then pour it over the ice.

Step 3 – Serve
After shaking, double-strain the drink and pour it into a cold glass to serve. Remember to pour it swiftly so the froth stays.
Ta da!!! It’s done. Now, you can garnish it or drink it as it is. I’ve given some garnishing styles below. Check it out!

Options For Garnishing
Well, as there are a variety of flavors in this drink you have many options to garnish it. I personally love garnishing with dark melted chocolate. I use it to coat the rim of my glass. Also, I add some sprinkles of shaved chocolate and chocolate syrup to the froth. As a huge chocolate fan, I love to add extra chocolate every time while garnishing!
However, for garnishing, you can also use chocolate shavings, cocoa powder, instant espresso powder, chocolate syrup swirl, chocolate rim, cinnamon stick or star anise.
Some Pro Tips
- If you want your drink cold longer, then I suggest you use a chilled glass for serving the drink.
- Instead of shaking you can stir, but for this martini, I prefer shaking over stirring. Because shaking makes the drink more diluted and creates more froth. On the other hand if you stir this drink it will be less frothy. and I am sure you don’t like a less frothy martini.
- Always try to use fresh brewed coffee or fresh espresso to enjoy a good quality of espresso chocolate martini.
- Some people always like a frothy martini. If you are one of them then I have some tips for you. These tips provide you with more froth on top of your drink. Don’t worry, this is too simple. Pour all the ingredients in the cocktail shaker before the ice cubes. Now use an electric frother to mix it up and then drop the ice cube into it, shake it for 10 seconds and done. Now you have an even frothier martini, take a sip and enjoy.
